Today, thousands of people are coming together at the Open Compute Summit in San Jose to share new data center technologies. We shared designs for a new type of server that dramatically increases speed and lowers the cost of serving large amount of data traffic, a network switch that provides faster and better control of networks, and software that provides greater flexibility and control over server management.
A great example is our newest data center in Altoona, Iowa, shown here. This is one of the most efficient data centers in the world, and it uses the latest Open Compute technology.

Azt már eddig is tudtuk, hogy márkaépítés szempontjából nagyon hasznos felület lehet az oldal, azonban eddig csak új követők szerzésével jelenhettünk meg a felhasználók hírfolyamában. Ez nemrég megváltozott, ugyanis 2013 novemberétől az USA-ban, 2014 júniusától pedig más nagyobb piacokon is (Egyesült Királyság, Ausztrália, Kanada) engedélyezték az ún. in-feed hirdetéseket. Vagyis, a felhasználók már nem csak az általuk követett fiókok képeit láthatják, hanem célzott, fizetett hirdetéseket is.
Kockázatos lépés volt, de a Facebook nem sürgette, okosan várt, és úgy néz ki ez nyerő stratégiának bizonyult. Habár sokan hallatták negatív véleményüket az ügyről, a felhasználók többsége elfogadta a változást, sőt a hirdetések bevezetését követő időszakban 50 millió új felhasználó regisztrált, amiből azt a következtetést vonhatjuk le, hogy az embereket már nem zavarja (annyira) a személyre szabott hirdetések látványa.

A new economic report found that Facebook created more than 4.5 million jobs and more than $225 billion of economic activity in 2014.
