"Today you got a postcard from Hungary - all is not well, send money. It's a reminder that the debt issues are still there and they're serious and significant," said Karl Mills, manager at Counterpoint Select Fund"

Nonfarm payrolls: flash review

Mads Koefoed, Market Strategist, Saxo Bank

Today’s US labour market report produced quite a few surprises, but first the headline numbers:

· Nonfarm payrolls at 431K (Saxo: 560K, consensus: 536K)

· Private nonfarm payrolls at 41K (Saxo: 160K, consensus: 180K)

· Unemployment rate at 9.7% (Saxo: 9.8%, consensus: 9.8%)

The good:

· Hourly earnings MoM increased 0.3% (consensus: 0.1%)

Wages need to improve before we will see a sustainable pickup in private consumption. Today’s reading is a step in the right direction.

· Weekly hours increased 0.2 hours to 34.2 (consensus: 34.1)

Generally employers increase hours worked before they hire new employees. Another step in the right direction.

· Unemployment rate fell to 9.7% from 9.9%

Well, it went down didn’t it! (wait, there’s more...)

· Temporary help services increased 31K

Often seen as a leading indicator of employment growth and today’s number is another solid increase, which suggests that we will see private payrolls continue to grow.

· Persons employed part time for economic reasons declined by 343K to 8.8 million

Referred to as involuntary part-time workers; contributed to the increase in weekly hours.

· The underemployment rate decrease to 16.6% from 17.1%

· Private jobs increased again, this time by 41K

The bad:

· The participation rate fell to 65% from 65.2% in April

Partly explains why the unemployment rate went down; not good. Census hiring contributed 390K to new payrolls, and also partly explains why the unemployment rate went down.

· Construction employment fell 35K

Just keeps going down.

· Private jobs increased again, but by much lower than we or consensus had expected.

· The market is disappointed; perhaps due to the hype that ADP "underestimates private job creation".

If you look at the stock market you’d think that the report was a disaster, but it was actually acceptable... by the low standards set in this recovery of course! We welcome the improvement in the hourly wages and weekly hours worked.

Lassan jön payrolls. Lehet tenni pirosra/feketére(zöldre).

Obama megelőlegezte a jót, várakozás baromi jó (átlagok 521K, ill 502k, de van aki 750K-t vár).

Na mit fog lépni erre usa, smi t fog az hatni másokra - ránk.

JObb lesz mint a várt? Rosszabb lesz, de jobb mint előző?

Esetleg odaát megnézik a számokat, megpróbálják elfelejteni a születés/halálozás modellből következő számokat? Átugorja a szemük a népszámlálásra felvett fantom munkahelyek 4-500 ezres! számát? Lehet hogy csak a magánszektor 150-175 ezres növekedését veszik támpontnak? Ha igen azt milyennek minősítik?

Fej vagy irás, növekvő tétekkel, vki nyer, van aki veszit.
