ollar is slightly firmer today on rumors that Iran central bank began the process to reduce euro reserves from 55% to 20-25% and convert them to dollar and gold. The first stage of sales has started, which involves selling of 15b euros and is expected to be completed by September 22. The whole sales would amount to EUR 45b. Iran is expected to substantially decrease its oil sales in euros. While the greenback is slightly higher, buying is so far weak and dollar is basically staying in tight range against other major currencies.

Eurogroup Chairman Juncker said while he is not concerned about the current level of the euro, he is concerned about the rapid decline.

GBPUSD BEARISH Violation of 1.4366 would expose 1.4231 trend low. Short-term resistance is defined at 1.4725 Fibonacci retracement.

We expect the European debt crisis to remain a key factor weighing on the single currency, and expect the EUR to remain in a downtrend, in particular versus the USD and JPY. Growth expectations will likely remain under pressure, and uncertainty with respect to additional rating cuts will also stay on the rise. Fiscal tightening steps will continue to weigh on growth prospects, and the potential of additional bank loan losses in an environment of decreasing growth provides an additional indication for a further downward adjustment in growth expectations. And financial regulation will remain a topic on a global level.
