In other news, Prudential confirmed that it was in talks with AIG for termination of the AIA purchase agreement. Markets had been pricing this outcome into GBP over the past 24 hours, looking for an unwind of the heavy GBP selling in May (market chatter that it could be in the region of £10 bln) and the headline gave GBP another boost back through overnight 1.4715 high.
