A Microsoft egyébként azt mondja, hogy az eredeti szempontból siker
volt a kísérlet, mert az óceánokban valóban könnyebben és jobban
lehetett hűteni a gépeket. Ennek legjobb bizonyítéka a vállalat szerint
az, hogy míg a tengervízbe merített tartályban tárolt összesen 855
szerver közül a tesztidőszak alatt mindösszesen csak 8 ment tönkre, a
megmaradt 135 egységből - amikor felszíni adatközpontokba helyezték át -
8 darab adta be rövid időn belül a kulcsot.
Ebben ugyanakkor annak is szerepe lehetett, hogy a víz alá merített tartályokban a szerverek körüli teret színtiszta nitrogéngázzal töltötték ki, ami sokkal kevésbé reaktív, mint az oxigéndús légkör - és ez is csökkenthette az alkatrészek öregedésének ütemét.

LinkedIn will retain its distinct brand, culture and independence. Jeff Weiner will remain CEO of LinkedIn, reporting to Satya Nadella, CEO of Microsoft.
