Bernanke says the recovery appears on solid footing but cautioned it could take years before the jobs market recovers, warning that action must be taken to reduce the deficit since economic growth alone won't be strong enough to repair U.S. finances. Also, the impact of Europe's debt crisis on U.S. growth is "likely to be modest" if financial markets "continue to stabilize."
